I am currently a Sophomore at Southern Illinois University. I am majoring in Animal Science with a minor in Chemistry and American Sign Language. I am pursuing a career in large animal veterinary medicine. I am also involved in extracurricular activities, including Collegiate Farm Bureau, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, and Intramural Sports, and I am the Vice President and President-elect of the SIU Rotaract Club. I am a resident assistant in the agriculture Learning-Living Community residence hall, so I am surrounded by dozens of people whose passion for agriculture is just as great as mine. I am learning more and more about the agriculture industry everyday. |

Since graduating in 2016 with my Bachelors in Crop Science, I decided to continue on at UIUC for a Master's in Crop Sciences. While working on my masters I helped develop an Ag Discovery Program for 4th and 5th graders, served as Graduate Student Representative on the American Society of Agronomy Board of Directors in 2017, and serve on the planning committee for a plant science symposia at UIUC. In May of 18, I will be a 6 mo. Soybean Breeding Intern with Pioneer in Princeton, IL. I will then return to UIUC for Spring Semester '19 to defend my Master's thesis and will see where my next adventure will be. In addition to research, I enjoy running marathons, flower arranging, and spending time with my cat. |

Since receiving the Whiteside County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship I have been attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma pursuing a degree in Animal Science. While in Stillwater, I have been able to become a part of various different clubs and organizations such as the Horsemen's Association, Dairy Science Club, Swine Club, the Freshmen in Transition program and been a Student Academic Mentor. I have also been able to work for the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, assisting a professor with her research, and was even able to conduct a small research project over the public's perception of food labeling myself, which was extremely insightful. I am currently on track to graduate in May of 2019 with my Bachelor's degree after which I plan on obtaining a Master's as well. After I am finished with schooling I hope to find a job somewhere where I would be able to promote the agricultural industry.

After graduating from UW-Platteville with a degree in Agricultural Business, I enrolled at Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa where I am pursuing a Juris Doctorate with a certificate in Agricultural Law. I am currently in my second year and enjoy my time on the Drake Agricultural Law Journal and on the executive board of the Drake Agricultural and Environmental Law Association. I am eternally thankful for the Whiteside County Farm Bureau Foundation's generosity in providing me with a scholarship that helped me to pursue an education in agriculture. I am also thankful for the "Ag in the Classroom" internship opportunity that the Whiteside County Farm Bureau provided me. Even though I am not entering the field of Agriculture Education I look to spend my future advocating for agriculture in the courtroom and at the capital. Therefore, the skills I learned with Farm Bureau will be essential in my career. |
