Learning about Agriculture in fun!
From the food we eat and the clothes we wear, to the fuel we put in our vehicles, agriculture impacts our lives EVERY DAY. So it's important to understand where it all begins - the farm. Farm Camp is a Monday-Friday camp designed for 1st through 5th grade students. Each day begins at 8am and wraps up at noon. Monday-Thursday includes a field trip to a different farm. Campers learn about agriculture from area farmers. Cows, pigs, horses, sheep, goats, chickens, alpacas, Christmas trees, farm equipment, corn and soybeans -- if it's agriculture, we've seen it! After our farm field trip is done, we spend the rest our time together doing Agriculture in the Classroom hands-on activities. 2020 marks the sixth year of Farm Camp. Since 2015, more than 1,100 kids have attended Farm Camp. Camps are held in various locations around Whiteside County. In 2020, camps were held in Sterling, Erie, Fulton, Morrison, Prophetstown and Rock Falls. Online registration for the 2021 Farm Camps will open March 22. Each camp (except the Woodlawn Arts Academy) takes a maximum of 25 campers. REGISTRATION FEE The fee for Farm Camp is $25 per child. Registration for all camps is taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. *Registration for Woodlawn's camp is done through Woodlawn Arts Academy. Woodlawn charges its own registration fee.
